Are you brave enough to ask the ultimate coaching question?
It is the question you NEED to ask those who you coach.
Here it is:
“How likely is it that you would recommend yourself as a coach to a friend or family member?” And the second part is, “Why, or why not?”
Your ability to understand the answers you’d receive would make you a better coach. Even more powerful would be your grasp of the hesitation you’d have in even asking the question.
I’d wager a significant number of coaches would never ask. I get that. The answer(s) could (and would) be ego busters.
But if the responses could be gathered in an authentic and unbiased manner, imagine the powerful insight that could be gained. The potential for focused professional development would be amazing.
Now, to make this a less threatening exercise, try this — ask yourself the question.
“How likely is it that YOU would recommend YOURSELF as a coach to a friend or family member?” Then, “Why, or why not?”
I’d be interested in hearing your answers. You should be too.
Brave enough to try it (or even consider it)?
Hm . . .
